How You Can Donate to Support Survivors of the Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria

Turkey and Syria Earthquakes 2023

Two earthquakes have caused widespread destruction in Turkey and Syria, leaving a rising death toll with countless others impacted. Thousands of people, including many refugees, are in need of shelter, food, and water.

PayPal, together with PayPal Giving Fund Ireland, has launched a disaster relief campaign to support UNICEF Ireland, Irish Red Cross and Irish Emergency Alliance who are working in the affected areas.

You can help to support responding charities. These organisations are working to provide essential services to those affected. Every organisation uses donations they receive differently – when you choose a charity to support, read their mission statement or visit their website to understand how donations will be used.

Your support will help people who have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions, with humanitarian needs expected to grow in the coming days. Access to clean water will likely be a challenge, bringing the risk of cholera and other diseases.

As communities navigate how to tackle this disaster and support survivors, there will be great need for assistance. PayPal will cover all transaction costs* for donations made through our Giving Fund platform, ensuring each donation will reach those organisations that are working hard to provide relief and recovery efforts to affected communities on the ground.

* PayPal covers transaction fees when you donate in Euro using your Irish PayPal account in the PayPal app or through this page of our website so 100% of your donation goes to charity unless it involves a currency conversion. For more information on fees please see the PayPal User Agreement.
